Prepurchase Exams

An invaluable part of making a decision about buying a new horse

A pre-purchase evaluation (PPE) is an important step in the process of buying a horse as it helps ensure the horse can fulfill your expectations. All PPEs are tailored to the specific horse and your goals for that horse. A basic pre-purchase begins with a thorough physical exam assessing the major organ systems including a neurologic exam and ophthalmic exam.

To further evaluate the horse a lameness exam including watching the horse on different surfaces and evaluation of flexion tests are performed. Lastly, diagnostic imaging as appropriate in addition to any blood work including CBC, Chemistry, and Drug Screen can be performed.
